Biography Designer
Founded in 2006 by Pedro Mendes, Studio Caruma began as his contemporary design workshop in the heart of Portugal. With a long history of designing for renowned names and brimming with ideas, it was time to take the next step. Mathilde Liu joined the studio after moving to Portugal, bringing with her 25 years of experience in the creative industries and design in China and Hong Kong. Her vision is to showcase local craftsmanship in a modern and distinctive way. The studio is dedicated to exploring and reinterpreting materials with precision, creativity and Portuguese craftsmanship.
