  • A beautifully carved stool from Mali. The ancestral figures or nommo are symmetric and geometric carved in relief. They support the upper seat and should be representing ancestors who were seen as authority figures. According to Dogon cosmogony the stool consists of two discs; one representing the sky the other the earth.
