Product remarks

  • The unique item shown on the image is the exact item you will receive.
  • Traditionally Bamileke stools were used for the King or important chiefs' seat in the Bamileke tribes of Cameroon. These leaders defined their power by the display of prestige objects during important ceremonies. Stools were among the most important of these objects. Carved by local artisans from a single piece of cola tree trunk. Featuring the evident Bamileke rounded disc seat and base this stool forgoes a more common abstract design in favor of a pattern of human heads and animal shapes. Masterfully carved from a single tree trunk the design of these figures both decorate and support the seated individual.
